Avondale
Avondale is a suburb of Phoenix with a population exceeding 84,000 people. The city is located on the western edge of the metro area along the Agua Fria River. Avondale was originally an agricultural community, but over time it would evolve into a modern city situated in a prominent commercial corridor.
The area was originally a settlement established by William "Billy" G. Moore which he named “Coldwater.” In the early days, cotton was a major economic driver for the small settlement. It would later become a major stop for stagecoaches that were traveling through the area. The town eventually changed its name to Avondale after the local post office relocated near Avondale Ranch.
